Update 0.3.1 released


Update 0.3.1 is launching and can now be downloaded from the game's page! Note that this update is mandatory for online play.

[MAJOR CHANGES/ADDITIONS]

  • Added a new mechanic: the ENERGY GAUGE.
    • This new gauge is located next to the health gauge. It starts full and refills overtime if not full.
    • This gauge can be used to perform certain moves, depending on the character. If it's possible to use any of these moves, the gauge will be cyan; otherwise, it will change to dark blue.
    • Zero currently doesn't have access to the energy gauge: this is an intentional game design decision.
  • Every character now has two taunts instead of one: the normal one, and an alternative taunt that can be done with up+taunt.
    • Zero now has a new normal taunt, and his old taunt has been moved to up+taunt.
    • Harpuia keeps his existing taunt as his normal taunt and gains an alternative taunt on up+taunt.
  • Initiated a major visual revamp of the game menus.
    • Keep in mind that this revamp isn't definitive and that there is still work to be done in that domain.
  • Added "Score" and "Goal" HUD counters in the top-left of the screen, which display the player's current score and the score required to win.
  • Revamped nearly every single one of Harpuia's alternate skins, props to developer "Bozo".
  • Several memorial statues of the late Jape (more widely known as Travon "Traweezie" High) have been added to maps of the game.
    • There exists a certain special interaction with one of these statues, can you find which one?

[BUGFIXES]

  • Fixed Rakusaiga sparks not appearing on jump-through platforms/the resistroof elevator.
  • Fixed Rakusaiga sparks not being spawned if Zero landed on a specific frame.
  • Fixed Harpuia's wall slash to wall slide transition not functioning properly.

[BALANCE CHANGES]

{Zero}

  • Increased Hyougetsujin (down+attack on the ground) damage from 2 to 3.
  • Reworked Zero's Rakusaiga (down+attack midair).
    • Players can be hit only once by the same Rakusaiga attack.
    • Down thrust hitbox now follows the user.
    • Removed the 1-damage hitbox at the very beginning of the attack.
    • Increased Rakusaiga startup.
    • Rakusaiga sparks now dissipate.

{Harpuia}

  • Harpuia's airdash has been replaced by a new, unconventional airdash.
    • While this airdash goes downwards at the beginning (making it harder to use in short hops), it offers far greater mobility.
  • Added the V-Dash technique, an upward airdash that can be performed with up+dash in the air.
  • Harpuia can airdash or V-dash a second time in a jump at the cost of 5/16 energy gauge.
  • Harpuia now runs and dashes slightly faster.
  • Slowed down Harpuia's dash slash to make it distinct from Zero's.
  • Harpuia can now use his standing attack while crouching.

[MISC CHANGES]

  • Harpuia's taunt now produces a unique sound effect.
  • A few of Zero's animations now have additional frames for animated hair.
  • Recolored Rakusaiga sparks to be accurate to the original game.
  • Harpuia now has new crouching and jumping/falling sprites.
  • Altered the frame order for Harpuia's walk animation.
  • Made a few centering adjustements to certain sprites (most notably, Zero and Harpuia's walk anims).
  • Changed the loading screen sprite.
